Improving your cholesterol levels helps decrease your risk of heart disease, stroke, and heart attack. Rosuvastatin lowers blood cholesterol levels by decreasing the amount of cholesterol made by your liver and by increasing the breakdown of bad cholesterol. Rosuvastatin is available as Crestor and generic rosuvastatin in the following dosage forms that are taken by mouth.

Crestor Information :

Uses :

The Rosuvastatin tablet is a member of the statin drug class. It is used to decrease heart disease risk and cholesterol. An accumulation of cholesterol, a fatty material, narrows your blood vessels and increases your risk of heart attack and stroke.

A common prescription drug that is thought to be safe for long-term usage is rosuvastatin tablets. It may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Though you can take it whenever you like, try to take it at the same time every day. The majority of individuals with high cholesterol are not sick, yet quitting your medication can raise your cholesterol, worsen your health, and raise your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Regularly checking your cholesterol levels is crucial. A nutritious diet, consistent exercise, quitting smoking, using alcohol in moderation, and losing weight are all important components of the treatment plan, of which this medication is just one. Although you can eat anything you want while taking this medication, try to stay away from items that are heavy in fat.

Precautions & Warnings :

Long-term usage of rosuvastatin can harm the kidneys and induce muscular conditions such myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Before consuming excessive amounts of alcohol, a person with liver illness should speak with a physician. You should use caution if you are using any anticoagulants or blood thinners, such as coumarin or warfarin. Rosuvastatin should be taken at least two hours apart from antacids such as magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide. People who use Rosuvastatin on a daily basis may see increases in their fasting glucose and HbA1c values. Therefore, before undergoing these diabetic tests, you should inform the doctor. Before using Rosuvastatin, patients who have proteinuria (protein in urine) or haematuria (blood in urine) should inform their doctor because their dosage may need to be changed. It is advised that if you use rosuvastatin on a regular basis, you get a liver enzyme test.
