Keflex Information :

Uses :

Cephalexin belongs to the group of antibiotics called cephalosporin used to treat various bacterial infections of the nose, lungs, ear, bones, joints, skin, urinary tract, prostate gland, and reproductive system. In addition, dental infections are treated with cephalexin. The growth of pathogenic bacteria on or within the body is what leads to bacterial infections. Bacteria that are harmful or contagious can quickly proliferate within your body and cause illness. Toxins are chemicals produced by these dangerous bacteria that can injure tissue and cause illness. Cephalexin is ineffective against viral infections, such as the common cold and the flu.

The action of cephalexin is bactericidal. Cephalexin functions by preventing the production of peptidoglycan, a crucial part of the bacterial cell wall, by the enzymes in question. As a result, it eradicates the bacteria and aids in the treatment and stopping of infections.

Cephalexin capsules can be taken with or without meals. As directed by your doctor, you should take it on a regular basis at evenly spaced intervals. You’ll be more likely to remember to take it if you take it at the same time every day. You should always take this antibiotic as directed by your doctor, and the dosage will vary depending on what you are being treated for. Even when you feel better, keep taking it until you have finished. Should you cease taking it too soon, some bacteria might persist and the infection might recur. For viral illnesses like the flu or the common cold, it is ineffective.

Precautions & Warnings :

If you have porphyria (a hereditary metabolic disorder), avoid using cephalexin. Please let your doctor know if you have any allergies (to any antibiotics), kidney issues, or liver issues before taking Cephalexin. If you have an abdominal pain accompanied by prolonged, severe diarrhea, or if you develop a skin rash, see your doctor. If you have or have had intestinal inflammation, consult your doctor before taking Cephalexin. Cephalexin use over time may interact with fungi and bacteria that are resistant to the drug. Unless directed by a physician, do not take Cephalexin if you are pregnant or nursing. Children under the age of five should not receive cephalexin.
