Generic Naproxen (Naprosyn)
Naproxen (Naprosyn, Aleve) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Naproxen is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by conditions such as arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, bursitis, gout, or menstrual cramps. It can also be used to treat acute pain caused by other conditions not listed in this medication guide. The delayed-release or extended-release tablets are slower-acting forms of naproxen that are used only for treating chronic conditions such as arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. These forms will not work fast enough to treat acute pain.
Naproxen Information :
Uses :
Naproxen is frequently used to relieve pain and inflammation brought on by a number of illnesses, such as gout, arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, bursitis, menstrual cramps, headaches, muscle soreness, back pain, and tooth pain. It also lowers temperature.
Your healthcare professional will decide which other conditions Naproxen can be taken for.
Precautions & Warnings :
Please let your doctor know if you have an allergy to Naproxen or any other medications. Pregnant women should avoid naproxen, especially during the third trimester, as it may harm the unborn child. Therefore, it is recommended that women who are pregnant or nursing speak with a doctor before taking naproxen. The doctor can decrease the dosage for elderly people because they are more likely to experience gastrointestinal bleeding issues. Alcohol may increase the risk of stomach bleeding, so avoid drinking it while taking Naproxen. The usage of naproxen may raise the risk of serious cardiac issues, such as myocardial infarction and stroke, which can be lethal. Please stop using Naproxen and call your doctor right away if you experience bleeding from your back passage, such as black, sticky movements, bloody stools, blood in your vomit, or stomach pain that spreads to your back. Patients who have just had cardiac bypass surgery or who are scheduled to have surgery should not use it. Naproxen raises the risk of serious gastrointestinal disorders, including ulceration, bleeding, and potentially lethal stomach or intestinal perforations. Please stop using Naproxen and see a doctor right away if you have weight loss, diarrhea, pain, or vomiting as these could be symptoms of ulcerative colitis (swelling in the digestive tract) or worsening Crohn’s disease.
