Generic Ticagrelor (Brilinta)
Ticagrelor (Brilinta) prevents platelets in your blood from sticking together to form an unwanted blood clot that could block an artery. Brilinta is used to lower your risk of heart attack, stroke, or death due to a blocked artery or a prior heart attack. Brilinta is also used to lower your risk of blood clots if you have coronary artery disease (decreased blood flow to the heart) and have been treated with stents to open clogged arteries.
Ticagrelor Information :
Uses :
The Brilinta tablet is a member of the class of medications known as blood thinners or antiplatelets. It helps people with heart disease avoid heart attacks or strokes by lowering the risk of dangerous blood clots forming in blood vessels.
Brilinta tablets are also used to treat patients who have had heart stenting and have experienced a recent heart attack or severe chest pain associated with the heart (unstable angina). It helps these individuals avoid major heart-related issues including another heart attack, stroke, or blood clots forming in their stents.
This medication will be prescribed by your doctor in addition to another antiplatelet medication called aspirin. It is recommended that Brilinta tablets be taken consistently at the same time every day, with or without food. Regardless of how you feel, it is crucial to continue taking it. Stopping this medication may make you more susceptible to another heart attack or stroke.
Precautions & Warnings :
Inform your doctor of any food or medication allergies or hypersensitivity reactions before starting Ticagrelor.
